Basel William Sara

Syrian Harpist. Began studies in 1995 at the High Institute of Music in Damascus, Syria. Majored in Harp with a secondary in Piano. Graduated in 2001. Soon after graduation was chosen to be an Assistant Teacher of Russian Harp at the High Institute of Music in Damascus. Studied in St. Petersburg, Russia at the State Conservatory of Rimsky Korsakov earning a Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) with the   most prestigious harp teacher (Irina Donskaia). My teacher worked with me on quality of sound, building up technique, and finding solutions to finger positioning. In 2004 graduated from the Doctorate on Musical Arts program  in ART AND PERFORMING SPECIALITIES IN THE FIELD OF ORCHESTRAL STRING INSTRUMENT (HARP). Now teaching as a main harp teacher at the State High Institute of Music Damascus and teaching my students the same things I was taught in Russia. Participated and played concerts in many concert halls in St. Petersburg, and played in he philharmonic concert hall of St. Petersburg with the orchestra of Chapella Academy.
